56 x 55mm Heavy Duty Ceramic Tile-In Stair Nosing
The 56 x 55mm heavy duty tile-in stair nosing is a high-specification aluminium profile designed specifically for ceramic tile staircases in commercial, public and residential settings. Unlike surface-mounted nosings, this profile is installed during the tiling process — the aluminium channel is set into the tile bed before the tiles are laid, creating a flush, fully integrated edge that cannot shift or lift over time.
Constructed from high-quality anodised aluminium with a PVC non-slip insert, it provides exceptional strength, wear resistance and underfoot grip in wet and dry conditions alike — making it ideal for schools, commercial buildings, apartment complexes and public facilities.
Suits 10mm and 12.5mm Ceramic Tiles
Available in two sizes to match standard ceramic tile thicknesses: 10mm for standard tiles and 12.5mm for thicker tiles. Selecting the correct size ensures the nosing sits perfectly flush with the tile surface, with no lip or trip hazard at the step edge.
11 Colours, 4 Lengths
Choose from 11 PVC insert colours — White, Black, Brown, Beige, Canvas, Red, Dolphin Grey, Ice Grey, Midnight Grey, Yellow and Cobalt Blue — across four lengths from 1.0m to 3.22m to suit any staircase width.

Frequently Asked Questions
When is a tile-in nosing installed?
A tile-in nosing is installed during the tiling process, before the tiles are laid. The aluminium channel is bedded into the adhesive or screed at the step edge, then the tiles are laid up to and against the nosing. This creates a completely flush, integrated finish that cannot be retrofitted after tiling is complete.
How do I choose between 10mm and 12.5mm?
Select the size that matches your ceramic tile thickness. Standard ceramic tiles are typically 10mm thick. Larger format or thicker tiles are often 12.5mm. If in doubt, measure your tile thickness before ordering.
Are fixings included?
No — fixings are not included. The nosing is bedded in during the tiling process and does not require mechanical fixings in most installations. If additional mechanical fixing is required for your substrate, source appropriate screws and plugs separately.
Can the nosing be cut to length?
Yes. Cut the aluminium channel with a mitre saw or angle grinder with a metal cutting disc. Cut the PVC insert with a sharp utility knife to match.
Is this suitable for outdoor use?
Anodised aluminium is corrosion resistant and suitable for covered external areas. For fully exposed outdoor ceramic tile stairs, contact us to confirm suitability.
